PERSONAL DEVOTIONS
Our team created this short devotional for your personal adventure of discipleship and renewal during this next season at RockPointe. Through the Scripture passages and the reflection questions that follow, we hope you are challenged to grow in aspects of your influence, lifestyle, generosity, and legacy as a disciple of Jesus.
LEADERSHIP
Read: Colossians 4:2-6
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Questions for Reflection
- What does it mean for me to make the most of every opportunity? Where in my life am I not fully taking advantage of every opportunity to advance God’s Kingdom?
- What doors is God opening for me to more effectively make more and better followers of Christ?
- As an ambassador for Christ, where am I best stewarding my influence, and where do I need to better focus my efforts? What adjustments can I make? (i.e., workplace, neighborhood, family, etc.)
- In what specific ways in my life right now might God be challenging me to live more for Him and less for me?
LIFESTYLE
Read: Colossians 1:15-23
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
Questions for Reflection
- Do I live in such a way that places Christ as first in all things? Practically speaking, is how I spend my time driven by things that honor God or serve self? In the realm of giving, does my giving affect my saving and spending decisions, or do my saving and spending decisions affect my giving
- Would others look at my life and see God as the page on which all my priorities are written, or is God just another priority?
- In light of the gospel’s transformative power in my life and who Christ is, am I giving in a way that changes me, or has it become comfortable and routine?
- What priorities in my life influence how I give of my time and resources to God, and how can Christ be what influences me?
GENEROSITY
Read: 2 Corinthians 9:10-15
He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!
Questions for Reflection
- Paul shares about the evangelistic power that exists when we give accompanied by our confession of the gospel of Christ - that other people will see why we give and will praise God because of it. What purposes drive how I give? Does my giving cause others to praise God?
- Paul is emphasizing that their giving is not just meeting needs but that it is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Do I see my giving in that way? How is God challenging me to rethink why and how I give?
- Paul shares that we will be enriched in every way so that we can be generous on every occasion. So this begs the question: If I were God, would I give myself more money?
- Is my “giving story” one of the past or of the present? Has it been a while since I’ve let him grow me in the area of generosity? How is my relationship with Christ influencing and challenging my “giving story”?
LEGACY
Read: 1 Timothy 6:12-19
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen. As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
Questions for Reflection
- Who has left an eternally significant legacy in my life, and what does that look like?
- For those in my sphere of influence, how am I leaving a meaningful legacy in regards to lifestyle, leadership, and generosity?
- This far in my life, on what have I spent the most financial resources? How does that reflect the legacy I am leaving?
- What in my life am I viewing with a mere earthly purpose, and how is God calling me to view it with a more eternal purpose?

FAQs
Are there additional ways besides cash that I can give more towards Opening Doors?
Yes, be creative as you explore ways you and your family can give towards Opening Doors. You may have some stored resources that God has blessed you with in the past that He might be calling you to give out of during this time. You might have some stocks, property, or other items of that nature. Please let us know if you need assistance with facilitating gifts of property or stock, and we would be happy to help you with that. You can contact our finance team through finance@rpcstaff.org to make a gift of this type.
How long is my commitment?
We are asking everyone to make a two-year commitment. The fulfillment period of your commitment will begin in December 2025 and culminate in December 2027.
What if I have never even given to RockPointe before?
Opening Doors was crafted specifically with you in mind. Opening Doors is a "one fund" generosity initiative, meaning that it is different from a traditional capital campaign where you are called to give an extra gift above and beyond your normal giving. Opening Doors is a call to sacrificial, gospel-driven generosity for absolutely everyone at RockPointe. If you have never given before, this is your chance to get in the game with committed giving. We really hope you will.
What if I am new around here?
Opening Doors is about the vision for our church and our personal discipleship in giving as followers of Jesus. We believe that the local church is one of the most compelling missions to give towards, and we would really love for you to make RockPointe your home and join us in Opening Doors. If you are ready for it, this is a perfect time for you to put a stake in the ground and make RockPointe your church. We need you on the team!
If we are committing to Opening Doors, how does this change my giving to missions, the operations fund, and other special offerings or designated gifts?
During this two-year period, every contribution to God through RockPointe is a contribution to our Opening Doors initiative. Every aspect of the ministry vision God is calling us towards for the next two years will be funded through Opening Doors. There will not be separate funds. Every gift made will go into the same fund and will be our Opening Doors giving. Therefore, every weekend becomes a day to celebrate and contribute toward what God is doing in us and through us to help navigate people to God.
When can I start giving to Opening Doors?
You can start or update your giving at any time. The name of this fund is Opening Doors.
What is the difference between giving to Opening Doors and giving regular tithes/offerings?
In short, there is no difference. The Opening Doors initiative is a two-year journey from December 2025 to December 2027. During these two years, every gift given to RockPointe Church will be used to both continue our everyday ministries and accelerate our commitments to missions, church planting, and providing additional education space for every generation. These priorities will all be part of a single budget set by the elders in response to the Opening Doors initiative. So, when you give your tithe and offerings to RockPointe Church, you are giving to Opening Doors.
What about parking?
As a part of new and reallocated space, 120 additional parking spots will be added within close proximity to the new Children's Building.
Will I receive a contribution statement from the church? How can I view my giving history?
You will be able to view pledge amounts, giving history, and annual contribution statements at rpc.fm/give. To do this, you will need to log into your account. If you have questions or concerns regarding any of your giving, please contact finance@rpcstaff.org.
Can I use my bank's online bill pay system?
Yes, and giving in this way typically avoids any merchant account fees. Please use the church's mailing address below and indicate Opening Doors in the memo field.
For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
PSALM 84:10
