CHURCH PLANTING

16-30 Months Out:

• Advice for church planters (handout)
• Bible college, seminary, fellowship, and/or residency (completed or started)
• Get licensed/ordained
• Develop a list of networks, denominations, & people to consult with questions to ask
• Develop a list of potential donors 
• Complete a church planter assessment (i.e., Stadia, Start CHURCH)
• Ask potential partners to pray 
• Identify network and/or denomination you will partner with
• Start searching for venue 
• Establish church structure and governance 
• Start church formation checklist

12-16 Months Out:

• Develop church plant prospectus and budgets (taxes, payroll, compensations) 
• Confirm sending churches financial commitment
• Ask people to pray about being a part 
• Establish a church planting mentor/catalyst 
• Develop website and obtain email
• Set a launch date

9-12 Months Out:

• Start building a core team 
• Plant interest meeting, then 1st plant meeting
• Start developing vision frame 
• Build children’s ministry strategy 
• Start weekly prayer meetings and form a small group (i.e. Bible Study)
• Recruit launch team – with leadership potential (not necessarily decision makers)

2-4 Months Out:

• Have team see and help other church plants 
• Obtain liability insurance (i.e. Guidestone/Brotherhood) 
• Develop 6-12 monthly preaching calendar starting from launch day 
• Start social media ads 
• Purchase sound equipment

1-2 Months Out:

• Volunteer training 
• Have the offering/collection process in place 
• Have worship team in place 
• Identify local ministry partners 

Post Launch (1-3 months):

• Establish meeting rhythm with staff/volunteers 
• Implement discipleship process 
• Start membership class 

Post Launch (3-6 months):

• Launch small groups with identified leaders 
• Consider potential future meeting location based upon growth
